Dobro: Cazadero

I wanted to do this since I was introduced to this tune by Matt Witler. Quite a bit of melodic playing…

The tab started from some sheet music found on the internet, it is written in D, was recorded in E, capo on 2nd fret.

On Soundcloud: Cazadero at practice speed: MM 150

But I’m sure somebody will get it up to Chris Thile’s tempo.

Correction: last note in bar 16 and bar 22 is played on the open D string.

Right hand only (of course).

N.B.: bar 14 of “Satin_Doll_Scale_Fragments.pdf” is the upper half of the Ab minor shape.

the drill:

  • replace all minor chords of the tune with the first and/or second motive
  • same form up and down the neck
  • then group them together closest in position

C6: Impressions

The purpose is to learn the neck and left/right hand coordination.
MM = 112, straight 8s, on the recording MM = 132, swing 8s.

Significantly harder!

and this is how the pdf sounds (if played by me):

C6: Impressions

transcription (pdf) for C6/no pedals. A couple of low notes are out of range for an 8-string guitar.
